The South-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria consists of the Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo states. According to the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), one risk factor in the South-West state is the prevalence of deadly armed robberies. These are reportedly connected to harsh economic conditions and high youth unemployment. Other challenges that have been identified in the early warning data also include inter-communal tensions between farmers and herders. These vulnerabilities should be addressed in a holistic and integrated manner, including the economic factors as well as implications for women and girls.
